Indulgence with Benefits: The Nutrient-Enriched Opportunity

Welcome to this week’s edition of GRATE!

What a week it’s been for food. From the excitement and celebration of the Michelin Guide Stars announcements, to the energy on the ground at Hospitality Expo, and a wonderfully intimate forum with inspiring Irish producers from the Midlands Flavours Network, it’s been a powerful reminder of just how dynamic our food industry is right now.

Across fine dining, foodservice and local production, the same theme keeps emerging: quality, craft and added value matter more than ever.

And that brings me to this week’s focus — nutrient-enriched foods.

Consumers no longer see health and indulgence as opposites.

Instead, they’re actively seeking products that deliver

sensory pleasure and functional benefit in one bite, sip or scoop.

From collagen-boosted granola to vitamin-fortified ice cream, we’re seeing a new wave of nutrient-enriched products that blur the lines between treat, supplement and everyday staple.

But why now?

  • Beauty-from-within is mainstream. Collagen, biotin and skin-supporting nutrients have moved from capsules to cupboards.

  • Permissible indulgence is key. Consumers still want chocolate, ice cream and snacks — but with added value.

  • Supplement fatigue is real. People prefer to “eat their benefits” rather than take another pill.

  • Wellness has become lifestyle-led. Health is now integrated into daily rituals — breakfast, coffee runs, snacking — not reserved for gym sessions.

  • Consumers don’t want to compromise on flavour — they do want their food to work harder.

In 2026 NPD planning, the opportunity isn’t just in adding nutrients. It’s in embedding them into formats people already crave.

Indulgence is no longer the opposite of wellness.

It’s becoming the delivery system for it.

Here are five brands capitalising on this nutrient-enriched

sweet spot:

As always, enjoy the read,

See you in a few weeks

PURELY ELIZABETH - PURELY GLOW GRANOLA (US)

Purely Elizabeth has stepped beyond functional breakfast into beauty-led positioning with its first limited-edition launch, Purely Glow Granola. Created to align with New York Fashion Week, the Salted Vanilla Pistachio blend taps into two fast-rising interests: collagen benefits and pistachio as a premium flavour cue. The gluten-free recipe is sweetened with coconut sugar, baked with coconut oil, and enriched with collagen peptides, biotin and coconut water powder — designed to support radiance from within. What’s particularly smart is the brand’s move beyond retail. In partnership with Cha Cha Matcha, Purely Elizabeth launched a limited-time Purely Glow menu across all locations — extending the product into culture, fashion and foodservice rather than keeping it confined to the cereal aisle.

NUTRI-SCOOP®– FORTIFIED ICE CREAM WITH PURPOSE (UK)

Nutri-Scoop is redefining what indulgence looks like in the frozen aisle. Positioned as “ice cream with purpose,” the range is hand-whisked in small batches using recognisable kitchen ingredients — no artificial colours, preservatives or additives. But the key differentiator lies in its proprietary DJK+ vitamin and mineral blend, with each serving delivering over 30% of daily requirements. This is classic comfort reimagined through a wellness lens: familiar, nostalgic and premium — yet fortified enough to justify the treat.

THE GOODVICE - BEST-EVER CHOCOLATE SHAKE MIX (US)

With its Best-Ever Chocolate powdered shake, The GoodVice lands squarely between dessert and daily supplement. Made with dark, single-origin Ghanaian cocoa for a rich, indulgent flavour profile, the mix also delivers serious functionality: 15g of protein and 10g of clinically studied prebiotic oat fibre per serving. It goes further with added creatine (500mg), magnesium (130mg), choline (50mg), a full day’s vitamin C, 40% DV vitamin E and 20% zinc — turning what tastes like a chocolate treat into a multi-functional nutrition blend. It’s indulgence engineered for the performance-minded consumer.

SINGING PASTURES - ORIGINAL BEEF STICK (US)

Singing Pastures takes a functional approach to traditional meat snacks. Its Original Beef Stick is made from grass-fed beef that’s naturally fermented and slow-cooked for 16 hours, enhancing both flavour and digestibility. The recipe incorporates bone broth and collagen, delivering up to 10g of protein per serving while leaning into nutrient density. Free from palm oil, seed oils and artificial preservatives, the brand positions the product as a cleaner, more functional evolution of a classic convenience snack — tapping into consumer demand for protein that also supports joint, gut and overall health.

DEUX - VITAMIN-ENHANCED COOKIE DOUGH (US)

DEUX is reimagining dessert as a delivery system for micronutrients. Its refrigerated, edible cookie dough and brownie batter pints look and feel like classic indulgent treats — but they’re fortified with vitamins and minerals typically found in supplements, including vitamins C and D, zinc and iron. Rather than positioning itself as a “health food,” DEUX leans heavily into pleasure: rich textures, nostalgic flavours and spoonable formats. The functional credentials are integrated subtly but strategically — offering immune and everyday wellness support without sacrificing taste.
